Q: What does Realty First charge me per month and at closing?

A: You pay $119.99 a month and there are no fees at closing.

Q: What is my commission split?

A: There are no commission splits, you get paid 100% of your commission. If you sell a property for 800k and the commission was 2.5%, then 20k would be transferred to you. The $119.99/mo is your only fee.

Q: Does the company cover E&O insurance?

A: Yes, we pay the E&O insurance and you would be responsible for the deductible if there was a claim.

Q: Seriously though... what are the hidden fees?

A: There aren't any hidden fees.

Q: Is office space available?

A: Yes, we use an executive suites in Lake Oswego. They have full business support services as well.

Q: What do you require of your Brokers that want to join?

A: Simple, stay compliant with OREA and NAR. You are also encouraged to reach out to Derek whenever you have a question or need support. Seriously, don't ever feel bashful about reaching out.

Q: Are there any minimum sales numbers I need to maintain?

A: Nope

Q: What is the contract term with Realty First?

A: You are not required to stay with Realty First for a minimum time period.

Q: What MLS systems is Realty First a part of?

A: Currently, RMLS, WVMLS & COMLS

Q: What associations is Realty First a member of?

A: PMAR, MVAR, & PCAR. If you are a member of a different association you can choose one of the respective three as a secondary membership and be compliant with NAR.

Q: Can I use my own sign design?

A: Definitely! There isn't a required sign or business card format that you need to use.

Q: Could I setup my own office and/or have my own team?

A: Yes, we have people who do that.

Q: Can I get a copy of the onboarding contract for review?

A: Absolutely! Just ask Derek for one. It's not something made public to protect intellectual property.

Q: What if I want to switch, but I have a pending transaction?

A: Typically, a referral is sent to Realty First from your past brokerage/title and then you are paid. It's suggested to review your contract and get confirmation from your PB on how it is handled.

Q: What are the steps to switching over?

A: We can have you switched over in ~10 minutes. OREA automatically sends a notice to your previous brokerage. The MLS may take a day or two to switch your account over. Keep in mind that any listings you have 'in progress' will have the information removed when the MLS switches your account.

Q: I'm ready to switch over, what do I need to do?

A: You can visit the join page and fill that out or call/text/email Derek. A key piece of info needed from you is the email address you'd like to use for accounts.

Q: When does my $119.99/mo begin?

A: Your first month is free. Which means that if you switch over on the 5th of this month, your first billing will be the 5th of next month.

Q: Is this a franchise brokerage?

A: Nope

Q: Is the Principal Broker local or do they live in another state?

A: The Principal Broker, Derek, lives in the Multnomah Village neighborhood of SW Portland with his Girlfriend, Daughter, and two cats.
